VISUAL ARTIST

ABOUT
EXHIBITED

Vasil Sharkov (b. 2004 Plovdiv, Bulgaria) is a visual artist who works through videography, often performing in it, expressing his emotional troubles and inner conflicts. He also paints in a similar manner.

Fascinated by the fragility of human nature, Vasil connects it to the outside world and seeks semblances between the two. His works can be described as playful, yet vulnerable and intimate.

Currently working on his thesis project TIKLA - the artist’s focus has shifted back to his origins in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria, where his research has led him to question how contemporary art is being displayed, posing the question if it can exist in alternative, natural and rural spaces. Read more about TIKLA here.

Vasil is in his last year of the BA Visual Arts programme in NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belli Arti) Milan, Italy.

He also completed an enriching 9 month internship at Matteo Mauro Studio in Milan as an assistant.

“I firmly believe the culture is hungry for something, and I’m trying to put my finger on it.”
