Currently in my last year of the Visual Arts BA programme in NABA Milan. When I moved to this city in 2023 I let myself flourish in all the ways I had restrained myself to in my teenage years, so basically I’m sixteen at the moment, or at least it finally feels like it. So I’m questioning the role of my art, questioning myself on my next move, do I plant seeds, do I help somebody else with their garden, or do I sneak at night, collect their fruit and run out of frame?
I was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, with both my parents coming from a rural area in the Rhodope mountains, which is a place that breathed life into me and raised me to become who I am. It is rich in Bulgarian folklore and natural beauty, with my artistic practice often revolving around the imagery and traces left within this corner of the world.
In Milan, besides being an art student, I’m working as an art assistant at Matteo Mauro Studio, which has been a blessing. You would also find me taking a random job every now and then. Currently you might run into me on the telephone line if you call Rituals Customer Service (especially on weekends).
Artistically, my endeavours have been taking me out of the studio space in the last couple of months. Naturally my instincts have always lead me to painting and writing, however I’ve been exploring the medium of videomaking and cinematography alongside more contemporary and abstract approaches to art and its display.
I firmly believe the culture is hungry for something, and I’m trying to put my finger on it.
